By: David Manema
In a powerful demonstration of influence utilized for the greater good, acclaimed model Nyasha Manzou has stepped off the runway and into the heart of Mbare. Collaborating with the United Methodist Church and a coalition of national stakeholders, she has launched a transformative campaign to rescue a generation from the scourge of drug and substance abuse.
Hosting the event at Bright Girls Movement in Mbare, Nyasha Manzou has proved that the fight against substance abuse requires more than just policy—it requires presence, empathy, and collective action.
A Symphony of Solutions for Mbare
Nyasha’s motive is clear: to educate youths on the silent dangers of substance abuse and promote positive lifestyle choices. By engaging the Mbare community directly through marches, music, and poetry, the campaign transformed awareness into a vibrant celebration of sobriety.
Open Dialogue
The campaign created a safe platform for young people to discuss the risks associated with drug use and gain valuable knowledge on how to pursue healthier, more productive opportunities.
The initiative brought together a formidable coalition including faith leaders, youth organizations, and government representatives from the Ministry of Women’s Affairs and SMEs.
Strategic Partnerships
With insights from AU Youth Council Ambassador Tate Makayi and experts like Naume Kusotera, the campaign addressed the link between drug abuse and social challenges like gender-based violence and community instability.
Anchored by the United Methodist Church St Paul, the campaign utilized faith-based guidance to reinforce the message of Deuteronomy 30:19: "Choose life."
Inspirational Leadership
Pastor Karen provided spiritual encouragement, urging the youth to rely on community support systems and faith to overcome the pressures of modern-day challenges.
