As Zimbabwe celebrates 46 years of Independence, the local music scene has been ignited by a homecoming of legendary proportions. Queen Mashie, the Lyon-based diva, has jetted back to France, leaving a trail of musical brilliance after the successful launch of her sixth album, ‘Rejuvenation’.

The nine-track project, crafted by the magical touch of producers Tapiwa Jaera, Willis Wataffi and Clive Mukundu, is already making waves with hits like “Higher,” “Lemonade,” and “Chimwe Nechimwe.”

The Story Behind the Glitter

Behind the groove lies a deeply personal journey. Tatenda Mashiringo revealed that the album was born from a period of burnout where she felt disconnected from her purpose. Her return to Zimbabwe was an intentional act of transformation.

Renewal of the Soul

“Renewal isn’t just about rest—it’s about intentional transformation,” she says. By reconnecting with peers like Pauline Gundidza and Diana Samkange, she recharged her creative batteries through the warmth of home.

Queen Mashie is the sister of the late guitar legend Andy Brown. Having started singing at the age of four, she joined her brother as a backing vocalist in 2000, eventually carving her own path as a solo powerhouse.

Keeping the Torch Alight

Though Andy Brown passed in 2012, Queen Mashie ensures the family legacy remains intact. From the Vintage Band to international stages, she continues to honor her roots while evolving her sound.

Since moving to France in 2014, Queen Mashie has toured Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands, the UK, and Norway. Her time in Nairobi, Kenya, also saw her topping charts on Nation TV with hits like “Ulikuwa Wapi.”

Leaving a Global Mark

“I will keep doing my best and working hard overseas, and make sure that I leave a mark abroad,” she declared. Her performances at Sauti za Busara and HIFA have already cemented her global footprint.

The Artistic Verdict

Queen Mashie’s return is a reminder that true rejuvenation comes from honoring where you started.

A Cultural Icon

Tatenda Mashiringo has proven that living abroad is not a disconnection from home, but a bridge. Her sixth album, 'Rejuvenation', is a gift to her fans and a masterclass in staying true to one's heritage.
