Rituals, Greed, or Madness? Unraveling the Evil Behind a Child’s Shattered Future

Brutality Confronted

Justice for the Stolen Childhood

A 31-year-old man in Dema faces a 20-year sentence for the rape of a four-year-old child. But as a nation, we must ask: How did we get here?

The Brutal Truth: Why the Rape of a 4-Year-Old in Dema is a Stain on the Nation’s Soul

On February 8, 2026, a 31-year-old man from Chief Seke, Dema, committed an act that has left the country in shock. After spending the day assisting a family with moving property—gaining their trust—he turned into a predator. He lured his neighbor, a four-year-old child, into his room while she was playing, where he committed the assault.

The nightmare was only realized later that evening when her mother discovered blood during the child's bath. Despite the child's terror and initial silence, the brutal truth was revealed.

The Chitungwiza Regional Magistrates' Court has acted with decisive weight, sentencing the offender to 20 years in prison. While the law has performed its duty, the trauma inflicted on a four-year-old life cannot be undone by time alone. This sentence stands as a severe warning to all predators: the Zimbabwean judiciary will protect its children.

We must pause to honor the local villagers of Dema. In a time when people often look the other way, these citizens chose action. They apprehended the predator themselves and ensured he was handed over to the police.

A Note of Gratitude: "Thank you to the men and women of Dema who refused to let this evil vanish into the shadows. By handing him to the police, you saved more children from a similar fate. You are the true definition of a community."
"Where is this coming from? Is this ritualistic? Is it the love of money that allows a man to rape a four-year-old child? What has happened to the soul of Zimbabwe?"

As David Manema reflects on this tragedy, we must confront the spiritual and moral emergency in our society. When the pursuit of money or ritualistic power leads to the brutalization of infants, we are no longer just facing a crime—we are facing a crisis of humanity. We are killing our own future, one innocent life at a time.
