FAITH, LUXURY & A RECORD US$90,000 BID: Inside Mudiwa Hood’s Groundbreaking ‘Dhara remaDhara’ Launch!
There was bespoke designer tailoring on display, high-level corporate muscle in attendance, and enough boardroom capital to transform a standard album listening party into a high-stakes auction house. Yet, behind the glitz of his 12-track masterpiece ‘Dhara remaDhara’, gospel rapper and entrepreneur Mudiwa Hood insists this moment was never about crowning himself the G.O.A.T.
From a sensational bidding war that culminated in businesswoman Joanna Sharpe paying an astronomical US$90,000 for a signed copy, to 16 zero-fee regional collaborations featuring Jah Prayzah and Takura, Mudiwa executed an unprecedented triumph for Zimbabwe’s creative enterprise.
The Core Message: "God is the Dhara"

12 Tracks, 16 Star Collabs—Zero Paid Features
Rather than relying solely on solo output, Mudiwa structured ‘Dhara remaDhara’ as an expansive showcase, featuring artists from Zimbabwe, South Africa, and the United States across its 12 tracks.
The project includes prominent contributions from Jah Prayzah, Canaan Nyathi, Andy Muridzo, Takura, Kae Chaps, and Bagga. Mudiwa explained that this multi-artist approach was a tactical bridge rather than artistic self-doubt:
“I have many features because I wanted to tap into the fan bases of those artists. At the same time, I wanted to give a platform to artists who are coming up and allow myself to diversify... Of all the collaborations I did, none was a paid job. I thank God for that.”
"Creativity is Enterprise": Napoleon Nyanhi Commends Mudiwa
Serving as Guest of Honour, National Arts Council of Zimbabwe (NACZ) Chief Executive Napoleon Nyanhi emphasized that the evening set a new benchmark for how artists position themselves within the national economy.
“Mudiwa has shown us that creativity can have value and that artists must learn to invest in themselves and in their work. We need more creatives who understand that the arts are not only about entertainment, but about business, innovation, and creating wealth,” Nyanhi declared.
The Bottom Line: With ‘Dhara remaDhara’, Mudiwa Hood proved that modern gospel and hip-hop can honor the divine while setting a standard for corporate engagement in Southern Africa.
