Gift Muyengwa (24) allegedly initiated a tactical assault on his sleeping family. His wife, Tsitsi Zuze, woke not to a morning greeting, but to the bite of a blade on her head and neck. In a desperate struggle for survival, she fled her home naked and bloodied, leaping into a neighbor's yard to escape certain death.
While she found refuge and a cloth to wrap her shame, the fire was already gutting her life. The one-roomed cottage was engulfed in flames, incinerating her two children beyond recognition. This isn't just a crime; it is the total liquidation of the marital contract.
The Contagion of Domestic Terror
Mabvuku is not an isolated case. We are seeing a disturbing pattern of moral bankruptcy. Just weeks ago, Ndodana Mkhanyisi Tshuma allegedly butchered his family in England. Six days ago, a dispute over US$1,000 led a man in Chitungwiza to torch his home and his wife’s car.
We are witnessing a systemic failure in how men handle conflict. When the solution to a dispute is arson and murder, the internal operating system of our society has crashed. We are no longer talking about "crimes of passion"; we are talking about a total abandonment of the responsibility that comes with being a father and a man.
The Price of Innocence
Aldine (5) and Ropafadzo (1). These names now represent a National Grief. What had they done? What dispute could a one-year-old possibly be part of? They were the primary stakeholders in that home, yet they were the first to be sacrificed.
