Prophet Walter Magaya Appears in Court as State Files Additional Charges

Fresh Charges Add New Dimension to Prophet Walter Magaya Case

Zimbabwe’s justice system this week recorded a significant legal development following the addition of new charges against Prophet Walter Magaya, bringing renewed public attention to the ongoing court process.

Magaya Case Continues as State Introduces Further Charges

Case Overview

Prophetic Healing and Deliverance (PHD) Ministries founder Prophet Walter Magaya appeared before the Harare Magistrates Court where the State formally introduced four additional rape charges. The development follows ongoing legal proceedings already before the courts.

The matter remains subject to judicial determination, with all allegations yet to be tested through evidence and court examination.

Details of the Allegations

According to the prosecution, the four new charges relate to separate complainants who were allegedly connected to church activities at various points in time. The incidents are said to have occurred over a number of years and at different locations.

Authorities maintain that investigations led to the formal placement of the charges before the court in line with legal procedure.

Court Proceedings

Magaya was taken into custody during court proceedings following the introduction of the new charges. The presiding magistrate advised that bail applications related to the additional counts be directed to the High Court.

The matter was subsequently remanded to allow both the State and the defence to pursue further legal processes.

Response From the Defence

Magaya’s legal team has stated that their client denies all allegations and intends to defend himself through the courts. They have raised procedural concerns regarding the timing and handling of the new charges.

The defence maintains that Magaya has complied with previous court requirements and remains committed to following due legal process.

What Happens Next

The case is expected to continue through scheduled court appearances as bail applications and procedural matters are addressed. Further progress will depend on rulings made by the courts.

As the matter remains before the judiciary, all parties are entitled to fair treatment under the law, and the outcome will be determined through established legal processes.
